This probably shows U66 (ObLtzS Gerhard Seehausen) sinking. It was an ocean-going boat of Type IXC used (or long-range operations to America and into the South Atlantic. The wide upper deck was a characteristic feature. This type was double-hulled which meant that a number of tanks were wrapped around the outside of the pressure hull to make this extra width possible
